The Mickey Mantle of Chesed Outtakes #1

The Shidduch Chronicles: The Mickey Mantle of Chesed

Hebrew Commercial

Stage

West Side Story
Role: Anita ................ Solos: america, A Boy Like That
The NYC Latina rubbed off on me.. or at least the accent did, enough to be cast in a summer production as Maria's feisty and provocative BFF. The solo 'America' is Anita's crowning moment and loads of fun. {Heads up: I might break out into nostalgic song if sufficiently ;motivated}

Pippin
Role: Fastrada / Pippin's Mom ............. Solo: Spread a Little Sunshine
Casts as Queen Mum and whatever implications that comes along with in a NY summer stage production, the most memorable part of the play, as cliché as it is, is the solo, Spread a Little Sunshine.

Roseanna Roseanna Danna
Role: For Public Speaking Roles in School & beyond: Rosanna Danna is the voice of choice.
It's not just about hair crimping and lipstick. This role involves not just memorizing the accent, intonations, and idiosyncracies of the character...straight off of Gilda's SNL reruns: It also involves taking her script format and adapting the subject at hand according to the Rosanna-style delivery: obscure Q & A, (always from a random place in NJ), explaining the subject with wads of chewing gum in expressive Italian descriptive style, and going off on some gross, gut-wrenchingly funny tangent. Let's just say this- if it involved being graded I always got the A+.
I love to act. Comedy especially... anything that creates the opportunity to don personas, characters and nationalities like a fashion show- it allows so much room for creative expression. Audiences get to suspend their perception , take a break and enter into another reality. Fun!
I've been onstage since age 5 singing & acting, it was rather natural. That thing where people fear public speaking more than life itself? I have no idea what they're talking about. I'd write book reports in the character of SNL reruns borrowed from comic genius Gilda Radner's Rosanna Rosanna Dana character--crimp my hair at age 11 with the bright red lipstick, and tell the story of the book in her accent and style. Kids were forever asking me to do 'accents' and the whole thing is tres fun for all.
